Do you struggle with frequent belt failures in your cold supply chain? This new innovation may be the solution! After discovering that belt failures in freezer operations were a big issue for customers, the team at Fenner Industrial Motion decided to do something about it.
Fenner teamed up with the materials team at Michelin tyres to design and develop the Freezer O-Ring. Fenner was able to use Michelin’s knowledge of premium cold-weather tyre design to develop a material which optimises grip and reduces tension decay over the lifetime of the belt.
The new Freezer O-Ring is designed to handle temperatures ranging from 5°C to -40°C. Most materials struggle in extreme cold, becoming stiff and brittle. This leads to cracks, breaks and slippage, resulting in costly operational downtime. By producing a material which is durable in freezing temperatures, Fenner hopes to counteract these issues, reducing downtime, belt spend and total cost of ownership.
The Freezer O-Ring can be used on a number of roller conveyor applications, including palletising/de-palletising, spiral conveyors and cooling lines, singulation and sortation and packaging lines.
