Although Blue Monday is supposedly the most depressing day of the year, we have asked our staff to wear something bright to recognize mental health support.
The third Monday of January has been awarded the gloomy title due to a combination of post-Christmas blues, cold nights, and the arrival of unpaid credit card bills.
However, all may not be as it seems, as it turns out this title wasn’t coined based on statistics and data but was actually a PR stunt by a travel company.
But it’s good that it gets us all talking about how to support ourselves and others with Mental health wellbeing!
At Antifriction we support the mental health of our staff in a number of ways. We have two in-house mental health first aiders, and we also have a third-party EAP (Employee Assistance Program) who have trained Mental Health First Aiders on hand to assist our staff confidentially.
Let’s turn the tide on this negative, PR stunt day and turn it into a bright, positive day in which we recognise mental health and how we can support each other.
