SKF Standard

Standard SKF bearings are well known for their superior quality and long service life. However, some applications must accommodate heavier loads while reducing friction, heat and wear in the bearing. For these applications, SKF Explorer bearings are the obvious choice.

SKF Explorer

Bearings in the SKF Explorer performance class have been shown to run cooler smoother, longer than non-Explorer bearings. SKF Explorer bearings, which were developed for more heavily loaded applications, are manufactured from extremely clean, homogenous steel which undergoes a unique heat treatment. The unique heat treatment provides an optimum balance between hardness and toughness. The internal geometry and cages have been optimized to reduce friction and wear. The surface finish of all contact surfaces promotes the formation of a hydrodynamic film.

SKF Energy Efficient

As the need to conserve energy grows more apparent each day, the technology that enables even a small reduction in energy consumption is big news.
Drawing on over 100 years of engineering knowledge and unmatched expertise in the field of tribology and related sciences, SKF has created the SKF Energy Efficient (E2) performance class.
While SKF bearings have continually evolved toward ever greater efficiency and reliability, this new performance class represents a significant breakthrough. SKF E2 bearings reduce frictional losses in a bearing by 30% or more when compared to a comparably sized standard SKF bearing. This means that when compared to other manufacturers bearings, the reduction can be even more dramatic.

SKF Super-Precision
To keep up with the ever increasing performance challenges of precision applications, SKF has a full line of super-precision bearings. These bearings have an optimized design, enabling them to accommodate higher speeds compared to bearings in the former high precision performance class. The benefits of the new performance class are evident by the improved overall bearing performance.
Bearings in the super-precision performance class are characterised by:

Bearing Units
SKF bearing units typically consist of a bearing, seal, lubricant and shaft locking mechanism. The units are preassembled and adjusted at the factory. These ready to mount units are available with either ball or roller bearings.
In addition to standard all steel units, SKF has more focused standard products which target a particular industry, e.g. the food, beverage and pharmaceutical industries where, for example, special materials, lubricants, seals and housings are needed.

Bearing Housings

To accommodate the high performance characteristics of SKF bearings, SKF designs and manufactures a full line of bearing housings and housing seals. These housings and seals are well known for their quality and durability. In addition to their unique design features, which simplify mounting, alignment and relubrication, SKF housings are precision machined so that the incorporated bearing can realize its full service life.

SKF Deep Groove Ball Bearings

Deep groove ball bearings are particularly versatile. They are simple in design, non-separable, suitable for high and very high speeds and are robust in operation, requiring little maintenance. Because deep groove ball bearings are the most widely used bearing type, they are available from Antifriction in many designs, variants and sizes.

Single Row Deep Groove Ball Bearings:

SKF single row deep groove ball bearings have deep, uninterrupted raceway grooves. These raceway grooves have a close osculation with the balls, enabling the bearings to accommodate radial loads and axial loads in both directions.
Single row deep groove ball bearings are available open or capped (with seals or shields). Open bearings that are also available capped, may have recesses in the outer ring.
SKF inch bearings in the EE(B), RLS and RMS series are mainly used in the aftermarket and, therefore, SKF recommends not to use these bearings for new bearing arrangement designs.

SKF Stainless Steel Deep Groove Ball Bearings

SKF stainless steel deep groove ball bearings are corrosion resistant when exposed to moisture and several other media. They can accommodate radial loads and axial loads in both directions. These bearings have a lower load carrying capacity than same-sized bearings made of high chromium steel.

Stainless steel deep groove ball bearings are available open or capped (with seals or shields). Open bearings that are also available capped, may have recesses in both the inner and outer rings or only in the outer ring.

Single Row Deep Groove Ball Bearings with Filling Slots:

Single row deep groove ball bearings with filling slots have a filling slot in both the inner and outer rings to accommodate more balls than standard deep groove ball bearings. Filling slot bearings have a higher radial load carrying capacity than bearings without filling slots, but their axial load carrying capacity is limited. They are also unable to operate at the same high speeds as bearings without filling slots.
Deep groove ball bearings with filling slots are available open or with shields. They are also available with or without a snap ring groove. Open bearings that are also available with shields, may have recesses in the outer ring.

Double Row Deep Groove Ball Bearings:

SKF double row deep groove ball bearings correspond in design to single row deep groove ball bearings. Their deep, uninterrupted raceway grooves have a close osculation with the balls, enabling the bearings to accommodate radial loads and axial loads in both directions.
Double row deep groove ball bearings are particularly suitable for bearing arrangements where the load carrying capacity of a single row bearing is inadequate. For the same bore and outside diameter, double row bearings are slightly wider than single row bearings in the 62 and 63 series, but have a considerably higher load carrying capacity.
Double row deep groove ball bearings are only available as open bearings (without seals or shields).

Larger SKF E2 Bearings for Electric Motor Rebuild:

Antifriction now offer the new SKF deep groove ball bearing sizes up to E2.6316-2Z/C3, appropriate for electric motors from IEC frame size 225 to 355 (NEMA 364T to 449TS). With 30-50% lower friction compared with conventional SKF bearings, the energy savings are substantial and the bearing service life is extended significantly.

SKF Quiet Running Deep gGroove Ball Bearings
Noise and vibration can limit generator reliability:

When noise and vibration are in sync with naturally occurring harmonics within a generator, the resulting structural resonance will eventually cause premature component failures. In many cases, the component failures are unplanned because structural resonance can also mask other problems.
